Nun to rescue as woman attacked
The woman’s 82-year-old mother had gone to Mass and she had called to the house in Cork city to light a fire. Once inside the house at Dunbar Street she heard a noise upstairs and went to investigate. She was confronted by man who demanded money. The woman tried to run out of the house but he grabbed her by the throat,” a senior garda spokesman said.
When a nun heard the screams she came across to the house. On seeing her, the burglar fled down Margaret Street.
The incident happened at 9.55am on Monday. Gardaí are anxious to catch the man who is described as being 20-25 years old, of average height with a thin face. He had dark hair, was unshaven and wore a sleeveless yellow florescent jacket.
