Eight people held after raids in hunt for robbers

EIGHT people were arrested in a series of raids by a garda squad set up to target criminals involved in cash in-transit robberies.

Over €1 million has been stolen in recent months in a series of well-executed robberies of security vans delivering cash to bank machines in the greater Dublin area.

Five men and three women were arrested in north Dublin in a 48-hour period up to yesterday evening.
