NO final decision has yet been made on how the health boards will be divided into four new regional authorities as a fundamental part of reform of the country’s health services, a Dáil committee heard yesterday.

Kevin Kelly, executive chairman of the interim Health Service Executive (HSE), acknowledged there was uncertainty and concern about the abolition of the health boards and the structures to replace them.

The HSE will take over control of running health services from next January, which will see a single entity responsible for healthcare services involving over 100,000 employees.
