The council has also refused John and Hilary Loftus retention of a landfill at Terrysland, Carrigtwohill.

Meanwhile, one of Munster’s largest developers, Fleming Construction, has received approval to build 44 homes at Cullenagh, Courtmacsherry.

The company will construct five detached and eight semi-detached homes in addition to 31 townhouses.

Thomas Leahy and Denis Myres are to proceed with a 33-house project at Cloonlough, Mitchelstown, while Boland Developments has been granted permission to construct 15 light industrial units at the Euro Business Park in Little Island.

Elsewhere, Michael Lyons and John Hynes, who are based in Ballincollig, have their eyes on a North Cork village. They have just applied to build 19 detached, 22 semi-detached and four terraced homes at Glenduff Road, Kilworth.

Developer Michael O’Brien is seeking permission for 89 homes at Dromadda Beg, Ladysbridge. He wants to build 83 houses, six duplex units and a childcare facility.

Meanwhile, Na Piarsaigh Hurling and Football Club has applied to construct an all-weather synthetic playing pitch at Upper Fairhill and a total of 18 floodlighting masts.

Those behind Fota Retail and Business Park want to construct 18 two-storey commercial enterprise units and develop a 164-space car park at Killacloyne, Carrigtwohill.
