Six bin protesters jailed for three weeks

SIX more bin protesters were jailed for 21 days by the High Court yesterday for refusing to give undertakings to obey court orders which prevent obstruction of South Dublin County Council refuse depots.

The six were also fined €750 each and told to contribute another €750 each to the legal costs of the council. Two other persons, who gave undertakings to obey the court orders, were told to contribute €200 each towards the council's legal costs.

The President of the High Court, Mr Justice Finnegan said society would not function unless the court orders were obeyed.
