Farrell’s Alexander: the Thanksgiving turkey

IN the US, every Thanksgiving must have a turkey. But at the time of year when more Americans go to the cinema than at any other, this year’s award goes to Colin Farrell in Alexander.

Directed by Oliver Stone and costing a whopping $150 million, Alexander is a big, epic bio-pic of Alexander the Great, the Macedonian king who expanded his empire from the Mediterranean to India by the time he died, at 32, in 323 BC.

Depicting a bisexual monarch, the film has already stirred up controversy and raised the wrath of the Greek nation, who want a disclaimer saying their hero was not historically gay.
