A SLICE of profits gained by developers after land is rezoned should be ploughed back in to those communities, Tánaiste Mary Harney said yesterday.

Deputy Harney also called on the Competition Authority to probe claims that developers are operating cartels and holding on to land banks to drive up prices.

At the launch of the Progressive Democrats local election campaign, the party leader said gains made by developers were not based on the land itself but on decisions made by representatives of communities.
