YOUNG drivers are lying about their poor driving skills and putting other road users at risk, according to a survey.

It shows young drivers are far more dangerous than they are prepared to admit.

Nearly nine out of 10 young drivers rate themselves as good or very good drivers, according to the survey conducted on behalf of Britain’s RAC Foundation.

RAC Ireland managing director Robert Taylor said the figures highlight a huge gap between perception and reality. He said it was safe to assume the same mindset exists among drivers here.
