Clarification - Suicide statistics

An editorial on Monday, May 31, stated that the Minister for State at the Department of Health Tim O’Malley declined to be interviewed for an article on suicide and Ireland’s mental health services, and that his department had not bothered to deliver a promised reply.

The latter assertion was inaccurate, as the department did forward an email as promised. However, due to technical problems, it was not opened prior to publication.

Most of the details of this email were a repeat of earlier answers to parliamentary questions. The article made reference to these Dail answers. The minister was not available for interview.
