Union instructs WHB hospital workers not to fill axed posts

WORKERS have been instructed not to cover any axed posts ahead of crisis talks tomorrow over Western Health Board plans to shelve 169 jobs to comply with Government orders to save €1.15 million.

The IMPACT trade union’s health executive is also to consider a withdrawal from partnership structures and projects in the health service when it meets next Monday.

The union, which is meeting health board management to discuss the job cuts tomorrow, claims the board’s proposals represent a base of 169 job cuts and hold out the prospect of many more.
