Armed robber waits in queue

AN armed robber wearing sunglasses walked in to a bank and queued up to wait his turn before producing a handgun and forcing a teller to hand over cash.

Armed robber waits in queue

The lone gunman, who was caught on camera as he waited for a few minutes for staff to deal with other customers, fled the bank on foot.

He escaped from the AIB on Main Street in Naas, Co Kildare, with approximately €4,000. The robbery took place around 12.15pm yesterday.

Gardaí managed to get an excellent description of him from staff and customers in the bank, despite his use of the sunglasses as a disguise.

He is aged between 20 and 24, 5’7” and of medium build. He was wearing a blue top and tracksuit-type black trousers.

After the cash was handed over, the robber calmly walked out of the front door. It is thought he walked away from the bank, rather than escaping in a car and that he carried out the raid on his own.

It was one of two unconnected armed raids yesterday. Gardaí are searching for two men who escaped in a Dublin 03 registration silver Honda Accord after robbing the Bank of Ireland in Ballymahon, Co Longford.

The pair walked in to the bank around 2.30pm and one produced a handgun. A sum of cash was handed over.
