THE first day of the Leaving Certificate raised no major difficulties on English papers for students at either level yesterday.

Association of Secondary Teachers Ireland (ASTI) English spokesperson PJ Sheehy said there was good variety in the texts on the first higher level paper.

“The texts were very accessible and the questions were in the style to which students would be accustomed,” he said.
