Fatal shooting latest in series of gangland executions

A MAN shot in the back of the head by the side of a deserted road in the Midlands is believed to be the latest victim of gangland violence.

Gardaí are investigating whether the murder is linked to a series of recent drug seizures in the area.

He is the sixth person to be shot dead in gangland-related violence this year and the second in a week, following the murder of Declan Griffin in Dublin.
