Photograph crisis may go unsolved, says Ahern

TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern admitted last night that a demand for a photograph of IRA decommissioning by DUP leader Ian Paisley was a hurdle he could not imagine overcoming in the search for a North peace deal.

But he told the Dáil he hoped the agreement both the Irish and British Governments were seeking could be prised out and power-sharing restored.

“Later this evening we expect to be advised finally whether we have agreement,” he said. “If there is agreement we expect that this will be revealed tomorrow.”
