Amputee aims to jet-ski to Britain

AN amputee is to take to the high seas today in a bid to jet-ski 250 miles from Ireland to Britain.

Matt Browne, who had a leg amputated five years ago as a result of diabetes, is raising funds for the charity Rehab and has already collected €30,000.

The 52-year-old from Clane sets off with four others and a support vessel from Howth, Co Dublin, jet-skiing around the Isle of Man and across the Irish Sea.

“It’s difficult enough doing it with two legs but doing it with one leg is a different story,” he said. “It’s all about the work you put in, in advance - the fitness - we have been in the gym since January.”

To sponsor Mr Browne call him on 087 265 4582 or Eileen Rowland on 01 2057313.
