Clarification – TDs’ expenses

In an article in the Feb 4 edition, the Irish Examiner stated that TDs are entitled to unvouched expenses of €61.53 simply for attending the Oireachtas.

The article went on to say that TDs living more than 15 miles from Dublin also receive a €139 overnight allowance.

The Irish Examiner is happy to clarify that, while all Oireachtas members living more than 15 miles from Leinster House are entitled to cliam the overnight allowance, doing so forbids them from also claiming the daily attendance allowance.
