Midlands last in field for domestic break

THE Midlands is the least popular holiday destination for Irish people taking a domestic break, figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) show.

If we do visit counties such as Longford, Offaly, Laois or Westmeath, it is most likely to be because we are catching up with family or friends.

Out of 94,000 trips taken to the Midlands during the first three months of this year, 63,000 were either visits to family and friends (50,000) or business related (13,000).
