An Post to get €1m boost

A QUARTER of the €4 million budget allocated to explain the referendum proposal to the public will go to cash-strapped An Post, it emerged yesterday.

Just under €1m will be spent delivering information booklets to 2.3 million homes, the Referendum Commission said yesterday.

Booklets will be sent to all homes of individuals listed on the electoral register. It is hoped personally addressed mail will not get lost in the mountain of election material piling in to letter boxes across the country.
