Berry loses ‘felon setter’ case against Irish Times

ON July 7, 1970, protesters picketed outside the home of Peter Berry, Secretary of the Department of Justice.

Thirteen of those people were charged "with besetting the residence and with using insulting words and behaviour".

The Irish Press published a photograph of one protester carrying a placard describing Mr Berry as an "informer". The gardaí were so worried about an attack on Mr Berry that they put his home under protection.
