College fee money ‘will help disadvantaged’

ANY money raised from the re-introduction of third level fees will be used to support financially disadvantaged students, Education Minister Noel Dempsey said yesterday.

Some form of charge for third level education will be introduced next autumn, but the income levels for those who will be exempted have to be decided.

Mr Dempsey said whatever revenue accrues as a result will go back into helping students from less well-off backgrounds.
