Customers may get more details on bank charges

The Joint Committee on Finance and the Public Sector is also set to support the introduction of legislation to provide protection for bank staff who act as whistleblowers. The committee is due to issue a report shortly on measures to further lower bank charges as well as increase the ability of customers to switch accounts between banks.

It will also urge the Government to keep existing regulatory powers on bank charges to ensure more competition.
