ESB staff involved in a long running dispute over the closure of a generating station have been told there will be no more talks.

Workers at the station in Rhode, Co Offaly, which was effectively shut down 12 months ago, last week rejected the latest offer from management.

About 70 workers at the station voted to hold out for a better deal. But yesterday ESB management said: “All reasonable procedures to secure vacation of the site by agreement have now been exhausted and there will be no further negotiations.”
