Council plans review of mobile phone mast ban

MOVES are being stepped up to lift a controversial ban on the erection of mobile phone masts within a kilometre of residential buildings in Kerry.

A Kerry County Council spokesperson disclosed that a sub-committee is preparing a review of the telecommunications section of the County Development Plan, which will later be considered by the full council.

An Bord Pleanála has reversed a number of the council’s decisions to refuse planning for masts to mobile phone companies because of the one-kilometre rule.
