TDs clash over decentralisation

A FIANNA FÁIL deputy has accused his constituency colleague John Deasy TD of making “damaging and over-the-top” comments about decentralisation and other local developments.

Fianna Fáil TD Ollie Wilkinson issued a hard-hitting criticism of Mr Deasy after he had called into question the Government’s ability to deliver on the programme under which 200 jobs from the Ordinance Survey of Ireland (OSI) would be relocated to Dungarvan.

“For his own selfish political reasons Deputy Deasy doesn’t want decentralisation in Dungarvan,” Mr Wilkinson said. “I have no doubt it’s going to happen but that kind of negative comment is absolutely detrimental to Dungarvan.”
