Today FM silences rumour of plans to sack Cooper

TODAY FM star Matt Cooper has described as “absolute rubbish” reports his €300,000-a-year position is in jeopardy after his show performed poorly in the latest JNLR radio figures.

The 38-year-old presenter of The Last Word programme has lost 54,000 listeners since he took over the talk show from Eamon Dunphy, prompting media speculation that bosses were reviewing his future with the station.

“There’s absolutely no question of my position being in review,” he told the Irish Examiner.
