AN POST is planning a clampdown on poorly-packed medical specimens in an attempt to prevent the spread of infectious disease through the post.

Unless doctors use absorbent and cardboard packaging when posting urine, bloods, or faeces samples, they will be returned to the sender.

The move follows previous leakages and breakages in post boxes, sorting offices, vans or when people open mail.
