SINN FÉIN held out the hand of friendship to the Labour Party yesterday seeking closer co-operation between the parties of the left in Dáil Éireann.

According to Sinn Féin Dáil leader Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin there is the potential for an effective opposition between Sinn Féin, Labour, the Green Party, the Socialist Party and some independents.

The left alliance would provide an alternative to the failed politics of Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and the PDs, he said, and together would outnumber Fine Gael.
