CBC to meet Newbridge in quiz final

CHRISTIAN brothers College, Cork and Newbridge College, Co Kildare will contest the final of the 2005 Thomas Crosbie Holdings All-Ireland Schools Quiz on April 29 at UCC.

In last night’s semi-finals at The Tara Towers Hotels, Newbridge College with a very strong second half, proved too strong for the Abbey Christian Brothers Grammar School, Newry, Co Down.

In the second semi-final Christian Brothers College, Cork were always in control and ran out very impressive winners.

Results: Quiz 155: 1. Newbridge College (Daniel Diver, Neil Diver, James Nolan, Lorcan O’Carroll) 110pts; 2. Abbey Christian Brothers Grammar School, 66pts.

Quiz 156: 1. Christian Brothers College, Cork (Joe Shinkwin, Brian Slater, Ivan Farmer, Ian Mawe) 106 pts; 2. St Aloysius School, St Maries of the Isle, Cork (Katie O’Mahony, Fiona O’Donovan, Una Clancy, Emma Roche-Cagney) 74pts.

The semis were recorded for transmission on RTÉ Radio 1 on April 22 at 7.00pm.
