Report fails to explain how kidney patient got hep C

A THREE-YEAR investigation has failed to establish how a chronically ill kidney patient contracted an acute liver disease while on dialysis at a city hospital.

A report has been forwarded to the Department of Health and Children for review, but it is not expected to cast any light on the mystery.

Extra safeguards against infection are in place at the hospital since and the construction of a new dialysis centre is due to get underway by the end of this year.
