Cancer patients optimistic

CANCER patients in the north-west are “cautiously optimistic” that Minister for Health Mary Harney will ensure they are not excluded from plans to establish a national network of radiotherapy facilities.

The Donegal Action Group for Cancer Care group want Letterkenny General Hospital to be developed as a satellite centre to minimise the need for patients to travel long distances for check-ups and treatment.

Minister Harney excluded the north-west when she announced plans to develop a national network of radiotherapy facilities on Tuesday.
