O’Donovan faces surprise challenge for selection

FIANNA Fáil TD Denis O’Donovan has been caught unawares by a party colleague seeking to challenge him for the right to represent the party in the Cork South West constituency at the next general election.

Fianna Fáil is planning to run two candidates one from the eastern region of the constituency and one from the west.

While the party has not yet put in place its candidate for the east, it was widely expected that Mr O'Donovan, as a sitting TD, would be unopposed in the west.
