Woman had ‘huge crush’ on garda she accused of rape

A YOUNG woman who fantasised about being the wife of a garda claimed the object of her fantasies had systematically raped and sexually assaulted her over five years, leading to the transfer of the garda to another area.

But yesterday at Cork Circuit Criminal Court Eleanor Kelleher, aged 21, of Aisling, Killard, Blarney, Co Cork, faced sentencing for making a false report of a crime against a member of An Garda Síochána.

Inspector Denis O’Shea said the officer, who is married with children, suffered a lot as a result of Eleanor Kelleher’s 36-page statement of complaint to the gardaí that she had been repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted by the officer in his home, his car and at various locations where he worked.
