Fine meats producer tastes success at Harrods
It’s a major boost to Marvelway, as the Mohammed Al Fayed-owned outlet in Knightsbridge, London, is generally regarded as the world’s premier department store.
Based in the former Meadow Meats plant at Christendom in Ferrybank, Marvelway was established by Trevor Cunningham, a one-time retail butcher whose family has worked in the meat business for eight generations.
The company’s 100% meat pastrami, premium smoked chicken crown, smoked lamb leg and smoked cooked gammon were also recently recognised with Gold Awards at the Great Taste Awards in London.
The awards recognise particular dedication to the production of superb food and drink. Among the Taste Award judges was celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli.
Commenting as the company’s products appeared for the first time on shelves in Harrods’ Food Hall, Trevor Cunningham said it was a very exciting time for the business.
“There’s obviously a lot of prestige associated with supplying a high-end retail outlet like Harrods and this comes as we celebrate winning the four Gold Awards at the Great Taste Awards in London.
“This is still a very young business and we’re getting tremendous support from customers as well as from the various agencies responsible for promoting new industry and food businesses,” he added.
