MICHEÁL MARTIN’S position as a minister will not be threatened by the Travers report into nursing home charges, a senior Government colleague said last night.

In a strong endorsement of Mr Martin, Social Affairs Minister Séamus Brennan said that his Cabinet colleague should not be made into a scapegoat because of a “maladministration” problem which extended back for almost 30 years.
