TUI gives members teaching option for science syllabus

THE Teachers Union of Ireland is to allow members the option of teaching the revised Junior Certificate science syllabus but will be closely monitoring Government delivery of upgraded school labs.

The TUI executive decided to give the go-ahead on the new course at a meeting yesterday, after receiving commitments last week from Education Minister Noel Dempsey on funding for facilities.

The union represents staff at around 300 of the country’s 750 schools, mostly in the vocational sector.
