Publicans pour €40,000 into ships festival

PUBLICANS in Waterford are standing behind the city’s hosting of the Tall Ships Race, donating €40,000 towards the cost of the event.

The agreement, reached between pub owners and event chairman Nicky Fewer yesterday, will see Waterford city publicans contribute significantly to the event and the free festival which accompanies it.

Chairman of the Waterford Licensed Vintners Association, Philip Brady, said the organisation was delighted to broker the package.
