FF in hot seat over Estimates, end of home buyers’ grant

THE furore continued yesterday over the Government’s spending estimates and the scrapping of the home buyers’ grant.

Facing the Dáil for the first time since publication of the Book of Estimates, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern was accused of lying to voters in the general election.

But Mr Ahern said the government’s first priority is to control public finances and return to a sustainable rate of spending to avoid a long-term crisis.
