Zero tolerance for illegal dumping

THE Environmental Protection Agency has promised it is moving towards a zero tolerance of illegal waste activity after improving enforcement of regulations and licences during the past year.

But the Green Party said the EPA has failed to stop illegal dumping and called on the Government to give it more resources.

The agency’s Office of Environmental Enforcement announced yesterday it has conducted 2,000 inspections of licensed facilities in its first year.
