CELEBRITIES are to be banned from promoting food and soft drinks aimed at children in a bid to tackle childhood obesity, it was announced yesterday.

On-screen health warnings will also have to accompany fast food adverts.

A draft version of the strict guidelines, which will come into effect on national radio and television from next January, was published by the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI).
