THE National Ploughing Championships have attracted a record 187,000 people, the organisers confirmed last night.

National Ploughing Association managing director Anna May McHugh said the event was a wonderful success and sets the scene for the world championships on the same site in 2006.

Next year’s national championships will be held on the lands of Richard Forrest and his family in Mogeely, Castlemartyr, Co Cork.
