Government's fight against crime a failure, figures show

“Under Fianna Fáil crime was cut by 27%. But no level of crime is acceptable. We are committed to continuing the fight against crime,” Mr O’Donoghue said during the general election campaign.

The mantra was supported by the Taoiseach, who joined in the criticism of the opposition parties track records on crime.
