Ireland's prison drug users top EU hep C table

DRUG users in Irish prisons have the highest infection rates in Europe of a deadly disease, according to a new study.

Some 80% of intravenous drug users (IDUs) in Irish jails are infected with hepatitis C.

Along with Germany, Ireland tops the EU league table for infection rates of the potentially lethal liver disease.
