TWO senior Garda officers centrally caught up in allegations about corruption in the force were involved in day-long face-to-face exchanges at the investigating Morris Tribunal yesterday.

Key witness Superintendent Tom Long was cross-examined in relentless detail by currently suspended colleague Superintendent Kevin Lennon, one of the garda personnel who featured prominently in claims of improper policing activities.

Yesterday he quizzed his colleague about his destruction of notes relating statements Superintendent Lennon said incorporated “very serious outrageous allegations” against him made by Sheenagh McMahon who, the tribunal heard earlier this week, “hated” Supt Lennon.
