E-voting fiasco cost taxpayer up to €50m

THE failed electronic voting adventure cost the taxpayer up to €50 million, with value for money dependent on the future use of the system.

In a damning assessment of the expenditure on the e-voting debacle, Comptroller and Auditor General John Purcell said the scheme should have been subjected to more rigorous cost/benefit analysis.
