Engineers to meet community groups

SENIOR County Council planners will be in Mallow, Co Cork, tonight to address concerns about the speed of housing developments, difficulties in securing planning for one-off houses and the lack of community amenities.

Engineers to meet community groups

It is hoped the information evening will alleviate many of the concerns raised by up to 32 community groups in the Blackwater Resource Development region in recent months, said the group’s spokesperson Susan Law, organiser of this talk.

Mr Padraig Moore, a senior executive planner and Mr Paul Murphy, a senior planner will each deliver presentations giving an overview of Cork County Council’s planning department, detailing information on the new planning Act, explaining the process of third party appeals and outlining the council’s settlement policy.

Ms Law said it would be very useful for members of community groups to attend the information evening.

“The evening will give communities an opportunity to hear first hand about planning implementation procedures in County Cork and may give some guidance as to the most appropriate steps to take regarding planned developments in their areas,” she said.

The meeting takes place in the Hibernian Hotel in Mallow at 8pm.
