TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern yesterday accepted that he may have discussed the issue of the £50,000 Pádraig Flynn donation with property developer Tom Gilmartin during a telephone conversation in 1989.

Ahern 'may have discussed £50,000'

On a second day of Dáil questioning by Labour leader Pat Rabbitte, Mr Ahern reiterated that he has no recollection ofthe call in which Mr Gilmartin says he told him he had donated £50,000 to Fianna Fáil.

Mr Rabbitte had sought clarity on several references the Taoiseach had made to Mr Gilmartin's claim in the Dáil on Tuesday in which he appeared to accept Mr Gilmartin may have mentioned the donation, but that he, Mr Ahern, could not recollect the property developer doing so.
