THE Revenue Commissioners are planning another major crackdown on tax evaders.

They are seeking High Court orders to force insurance companies to hand over files on people who stashed money in life assurance policies to evade tax.

It will be the latest step in an investigation which analysts have predicted could ultimately yield €1 billion for the exchequer.
