A NUMBER of small political parties yesterday formed an historic grouping which will make them the second largest opposition grouping in the Dáil.

Twenty-two deputies from the Green Party, Sinn Féin, the Socialist Party and Independents have joined a technical grouping which will allow them to quiz the Taoiseach and secure more speaking time.

The grouping will not share policies but it will be allowed a greater voice in the Dáil at the expense of other opposition parties.
