Agency seeks Tellabs replacement by year’s end

SHANNON Development is pulling out all the stops in a bid to find a replacement industry before the end of the year for more than 400 workers who are to lose their jobs at Tellabs.

The communications equipment-making company will shut in December with the loss of more than 400 jobs.

The development agency, which brought Tellabs to Shannon in 1989, has established a group to work with management and staff at the plant before it shuts its doors.
