Two asylum seekers found in container

GARDAÍ were last night waiting to question two asylum seekers who were found in a container at Rosslare Harbour after arriving on a ferry from France.

The two men, believed to be Iraqi Kurds, spent 24 hours in the container on board a P&O vessel which sailed from Cherbourg.

“At approximately 9pm on Monday a lorry, which had disembarked from a freight ship, which had disembarked from Cherbourg at Rosslare Harbour was searched and two passengers were found,” said a garda spokesman.
